What it does

Print price tags and barcode labels for a whole product selectionPick products, choose how many labels each, download a print-ready PDF.

Presets for DYMO, Brother, Zebra, Rollo rolls and Avery sheetsEach PDF page is the exact size of one label (or one sheet for Avery).

Free Code 128, EAN-13 and QR barcodes with no monthly label capUPC-A too. No batch cap on the Free plan.

Drag-and-drop templates with Hebrew and right-to-left textLock a template so app updates never change how it looks.

Test label and per-printer calibrationSo sizes are right before you print a batch.

Print on receive and a bulk barcode generator (Pro)Turn a purchase-order CSV into labels; create barcodes for variants without one.

Get started

About two minutes from install to your first label.

  1. Install the app

Install Brightshelf Labels from the Shopify App Store and approve access. It reads your products, inventory and locations so it can print them, and writes barcodes only when you use the barcode generator and confirm.

  2. Run the 2-minute setup

    • Which printer do you use? Pick the label stock that’s loaded, for example DYMO 30336 Multipurpose.
    • Print a test label at 100% / “Actual size”.
    • If the text and barcode sit inside the label, choose It printed fine — finish. If it’s shifted, see calibration.

You can skip setup and change everything later in Printers.

  3. Print your first labels

Open Print labels, choose the label stock and barcode type, pick products and a quantity (1 each, a fixed number, or match on-hand stock), check the preview, then Download PDF and print at 100%.

  4. Or print straight from your products

In Shopify admin, open Products, select products, then choose Print labels from the actions menu. It’s on each product page too.

No app embed or theme changes needed. Labels works inside your Shopify admin only and doesn’t touch your online store.

FAQ

Which printers work?

Any printer that can print a PDF at 100% / Actual size. There are presets for DYMO 30252 and 30336, Brother QL 62 mm, Zebra 2×1 and 4×6, Rollo 4×6, and Avery 5160 / L7160 sheets. See supported label stock. On Business, Zebra users can also download raw ZPL.

Is there a label limit on the Free plan?

No. Free has no monthly or per-batch cap, and real barcodes and QR codes are included.

Do my products need barcodes already?

No. Code 128 and QR codes encode the SKU. EAN-13 and UPC-A use the variant’s Barcode field. You choose the barcode type when you print.

Does it support Hebrew and right-to-left text?

Yes. Mixed Hebrew and English text and ₪ prices print in the right order. The app itself follows your Shopify admin language: English and Hebrew are supported, other languages show English.

Will an app update change my template?

No. Locked templates keep their version, and you choose when to try a new one.

Can I print labels for a delivery I just received?

Yes, on Pro. Upload or paste the purchase-order or packing-list lines (SKU or barcode, then quantity) and Print labels opens with those counts filled in. See the CSV format.

Can it create barcodes for products that have none?

Yes, on Pro. Use your GS1 company prefix for EAN-13 or UPC-A, or internal Code 128 for in-store use. You see every new barcode first, nothing is saved to your products until you tick the confirmation box, and barcodes that already exist are never changed. Only use a GS1 prefix you own.

We have several locations.

On Business, pick the location whose on-hand counts are used and set a default printer for each location.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

Open Plans in the app and choose another plan, or Switch to Free. You don’t need to contact us. If you downgrade, templates you’ve saved are kept and you can still print with them. On Free you can’t create new templates while you have one or more saved.

What data does the app store?

Your templates, printer settings, print presets and setup progress. It doesn’t ask for access to customer data. Details are in the privacy policy.

Troubleshooting

Labels are too small or shifted
  • Print at 100% / Actual size, and turn off “Fit to page” or “Shrink”.
  • Check the printer driver’s paper size matches the preset (see the stock table).
  • Still off by a millimetre or two? Calibrate the printer.
Calibrate a printer
  1. Open Printers and choose Print test grid on the printer profile.
  2. Print the grid at 100% / Actual size.
  3. Measure how far the centre cross is from the real centre of the label, in mm. Offset X: positive moves right. Offset Y: positive moves down.
  4. Enter both values, save, and print the grid again to check.

Calibration can’t fix scaling: if labels come out smaller, turn off “Fit to page”. On thermal printers, run the printer’s own media calibration first (on most Zebras, hold the feed button).

“No barcode” on some labels

EAN-13 and UPC-A use the variant’s Barcode field, and Code 128 uses the SKU. Variants missing these print without a barcode, and the app warns you before you download. Fill gaps with the barcode generator (Pro) or switch to Code 128.

A barcode won’t scan
  • Print at 100%. Scaling down makes the bars too thin to read.
  • On thermal printers, increase darkness or slow the print speed.
  • Keep the blank space either side of the barcode clear, and don’t shrink the barcode smaller than the editor allows.
Long product names get cut off

In Templates, select the text and set When too long to Shrink to fit, Wrap lines or Cut off with ….

The PDF won’t download
  • Allow downloads from admin.shopify.com in your browser.
  • Check the browser isn’t blocking pop-ups for the Shopify admin.
  • Big batches can take a few seconds while the preview shows Rendering….
I can’t find a product in the list

Select it in Shopify admin instead: Products → tick the products → Print labels from the actions menu. Print labels opens with just those products.

The ZPL option is missing

ZPL is on the Business plan and only for the Zebra presets. To send a .zpl file on macOS or Linux: lp -d <queue> -o raw labels.zpl. On Windows, use Zebra Setup Utilities' “Send file”. Template images go into ZPL only if they have a 1-bit (black and white) version.

Print on receive: CSV format

Paste lines or upload a .csv or .txt file, one item per line:

sku,quantity
TEE-NAV-M,12
CND-LAV-16,6
  • First column: SKU (not case-sensitive) or barcode. Last column: quantity received (a whole number). Columns in between are ignored.
  • Commas, semicolons and tabs all work. The header row is optional.
  • The same SKU on several lines is added up.
Editor tips

Drag to move an element; it snaps to edges and centres (hold Alt to stop snapping). Arrow keys nudge by 0.5 mm, or 2 mm with Shift. Delete removes, Ctrl/⌘+D duplicates. The top of the layer list prints on top.
